College is about 10 times harder than I ever expected. Classes are hard, making friends is hard, there's so much more work, and learning how to balance work, school, a social life and still finding time to be able to eat and sleep is so much harder than I was expecting.
I'm sitting in the library drowning in all of the work I have to do, running on maybe 4 hours of sleep and a lot of a caffeine and the one thought I have running through my mind is "I have to do this for four more years."
This is my first finals week in college and I finally understand all of the memes and what every other college student was talking about.
I took a moment today to think of all the things I needed to remember during finals, and you might need to remember these things too.
Your worth goes way beyond GPA
No matter what you make on your final, if you fail a class, or even if you don't make what you were expecting your worth goes way beyond grades. You have so much more that makes you an amazing person than just having a good GPA.
It's so important to breathe
I've been pretty bad about this my first semester and I went to an older friend to seek some help. She told me it's so important to breathe and take a break. You need to take a moment and step away from all of the school work sometimes. Take a break, go for a walk, watch some Netflix, go get lunch with a friend.
It's only one week
It's one hectic week of stress and mental breakdowns, studying and cramming. After this week, you'll have a few weeks of no school work, and then just a few more months before you have to do this stressful week over again. So, during the breakdown, you have everyday wondering if it's even worth it, remember that it's only one week and it will soon be over.
Be kind to yourself
Please don't beat yourself up. Go to sleep, eat what you like, take a bath, treat your self whatever it is, be kind to yourself.
These are just some things I've had to remind myself this crazy hectic week (and next). It'll all be so worth it in the end, we just have to suffer for a little bit. You get to go home, see your dogs or cats, see your family and friends and just enjoy the holiday season. Good luck to everyone on their finals!
