For me, 2018 is my year and as cliche as that sounds, it's true. This year I have made it my personal goal or resolution if you will to focus on myself, and only myself. Yes, this does make me sound arrogant and selfish in a way but, out of all the relationships one has whether they be romantic or friendly, the most important relationship you can have is the relationship you have with yourself.

It is so important to continuously work on that relationship and become comfortable with yourself. I, myself, have always had my own insecurities and have continued to struggled even to this day with loving myself and the true meaning behind it. What really is self-love anyways? Is it even important or beneficial in any way?

Self-love is SO important. You have to learn to love yourself before you can love anyone else. Loving yourself however, isn't just about being comfortable in your own skin, it's about taking care of yourself and taking time for yourself. It's about treating yourself, doing things you want to do for your own benefit and not the benefit of others. It's about taking yourself out to eat or treating yourself to a spa day.

Self-love is about finding your own happiness and having inner peace. It is about getting in touch with yourself and your well being. It is about your relationship with yourself and working on being the best version of yourself. You are special. You are important and you are loved.

Your relationship with yourself is what defines you. You need to be comfortable with your thoughts and feelings. You need to continuously take good care of yourself and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Become your own best friend, love yourself, accept yourself, practice self-reflection and most importantly learn to forgive yourself. Maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself is so important and one of the best things you can do this year. Take the time for yourself because once you build and establish a good and healthy relationship with yourself you can build and maintain healthy realtionships with others and from that point on... the possiblities are endless.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
