People argue that love, at first sight, is a real thing, but let's be real. We all pay attention to the little details of a person before we will ever drop the L word. If we notice any of these deal-breakers with a potential lover, though, count us out.

1. They are stuck in high school long after graduating

Listen, once high school is over, it's over. If the only social media pictures on your account are from high school sports and other activities, especially if one is set as your profile picture years later, consider us gone. Most of us want to forget high school, not relive it!

2. They have no ambition

Nothing is more attractive than a person with a plan. Nothing is less attractive than someone who could care less about their future. It will never be attractive to be careless.

3. They treat their parents with little respect

I firmly believe that there is a connection between how a person will treat their parents and how they will treat you. Nobody wants to be caught in a family feud on the first date.

4. They can't get off their phone

If they find social media more interesting than being on a date with you, they simply are not worth your time!

5. They still aren't over their ex

Nobody wants to be scrolling through their crush's Twitter only to find subtweets that are clearly intended for that person's ex. Be sure you are both ready to take things to the next level.

6. They hate dogs/cats

If your crush hates dogs and cats, run. Red flag. Unless they are allergic, of course, then it is open to discussion.

7. They move too far too fast

Boundaries are everything, and if a crush pushes it too far, know that they will likely continue to disregard your wishes.

8. They put little effort into building a relationship

You'll begin to feel like a hassle if you are the only person contributing to the potential relationship. Pretending not to care has never and never will be attractive.

9. They don't listen

If your crush does not care about what you have to say, do not bother trying to catch their attention.

10. They are not concerned with their hygiene

First impressions are everything, and if it is obvious they did not put any time into looking decent, it can say a lot about what kind of person they are.

We have all been victim to a crush who is guilty of one or more of these deal-breakers. Sometimes, it's okay to give them the benefit of the doubt, but most of the time it is perfectly fine to say sayonara!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
