The Relationship Between A Mother And Daughter

There is a lot you could say about mothers. They are loving, protective, a support system and always by your side. Not every day is perfect between the relationship of a mother and daughter, but it is one of the strongest bonds a girl can have. Regardless of how old a girl gets, or how mature and independent she things she is, calling your mom about little things will always happen.

I honestly couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve called my mom just to ask her about what she uses to cook for a certain recipe or about how that boy I was talking to turned out to be the worst. Mothers also still love their kids even though we can be the biggest pains.

As we get older, people always say that a daughter will start becoming like her mother. Some say it like it’s a bad thing, but in my opinion, I do not think that it is a bad thing at all. I would be proud to become the successful and loving mother that I grew up with. Without her, I would not have been able to achieve the things that I have without her right behind me pushing me to be even better.

In everything I have done, my mom was always right there to support me and cheer me on. She was the first one I look for whenever something great happens. One of the moments that really sticks out in my mind was when I was a senior in high school and it was at my dance team spring show. I was just about to do my senior solo, but my audio thanking everyone that had been there for me during high school was in there, but my longest thank you was to my mom. While I was walking out, we made eye contact and she gave me a smile and the nerves went away.

Every day I realize more and more how much I am becoming like her and I love that. She’s my rock, one of my best friends and the best mother that I could have ever asked for.

To my mom: I know that I don’t tell you this enough, but thank you for everything you have ever done for me and will continue to do. Even when I’m away, you’re the person that I always miss the most. I love you and will always be your little girl.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
