We’ve all had those embarrassing or awkward moments that stain our cheeks with a strawberry colored blush and make us beseech Zeus to hurl down a lightning bolt, or the Earth to swallow us up. Obviously, such moments are not the highlights of my life, but they sure aren’t the worst things either. Think about it, if dipping your toes (or tumbling headfirst, depending on the day) into a pool of humiliation a few times a week is the biggest of your problems, then you’ve got a pretty great life. Plus, embarrassing moments breed the best and most hilarious stories to share with your family and friends until even you can look back on them and laugh without shuddering.
1. Tripping in front of what you perceive to be the whole entire world.
Goodbye, dignity, I'll miss you.
2. Bragging about how great you are at something and then failing miserably.
Walk it off, walk it off.
3. Waving back at someone, only to realize they were waving at the person behind you.
See Mom, I do have friends -- or -- wait -- never mind.
4. When someone leaves you hanging, apparently oblivious to your high-five ready hand.
5. Going the whole day with some less than attractive food stuck in your teeth.
Does this spinach make my eyes pop?
6. When someone catches you staring at them.
Time to check out that snazzy wallpaper
7. Sending a text to the wrong person.
8. Forgetting the name of the person you just met.
9. Always replying with “you, too” even when it doesn’t make sense in context, for example:
(Emphatic, "You, too.")
10. Vehemently arguing your point and then realizing you’re wrong.
Casually moonwalk away, like Nick.
11. Taking the deaths of your favorite TV and book characters a little too hard in public.
Your friends...
12. When you bring to someone's attention the awkwardness of a certain situation, in doing so, doubling it.
13. Momentarily forgetting how to speak coherently.
14. Going in for the hug when they are going in for the handshake.
Yes, more often than naught, these cringe-worthy moments make you want to do this:But try to remember the bright side of things. Instead of tripping over your own feet and walking away unscathed, you could have actually hurt yourself. And everyone deals with embarrassment or awkwardness multiple times in their daily life, so really you dealing with them as well makes you human. Being human's nice, right? It sure beats being an emotionless robot, who wouldn't get embarrassed, but also would never experience positive emotions like happiness and love. Embrace your embarrassing, awkward side with a whole lot of laughter and lightheartedness.
