I Refuse To Grow Up

Growing up and becoming too serious isn't me and I refuse to do it. I may be responsible but I won't ever take life too seriously.

Being grown up isn't one end goal in life. Growing up can happen continuously throughout a person's life and should continue through a person's life. With that being said, I don't plan on becoming a grown up. I plan to continue to grow up until the day I stop breathing. Humans are built to learn and adapt to their environments. Since the world is ever changing and developing it makes sense then that humans will also develop and grow continuously.

If I stopped learning once I "grew up" I would miss out on so many different things in life. I don't believe a person can ever know everything about their field of expertise or work. If they do know everything that is known about something they should be the ones driving the movement forward. Too many people are content with hitting a certain point in life and simply coasting through the rest of adulthood. I hope to be challenged through life so that I don't simply coast through.

The world would be so boring if we all grew up. I don't mean I'm going to be immature and refuse to take responsibility throughout my life. I just don't want to be so serious I miss out on enjoying my life. I work with children and they still get excited over all the little things in life. Adults lose so much of the excitability they once had.

I hope to continue to learn, grow and get excited over the little things in life.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.
