*The following article may include some triggers for suicide. Please be aware*
Logan Paul.
This is becoming more of a household name this past week, and not for a good reason. Logan started his internet fame with Vine, and slowly moved to YouTube and television. In his most recent vlog, he showed a dead body. Not just any dead body, a suicide victim.
Unfortunately, someone chose to take their life in the Aokigahara forest. This forest is known in Japan as the Suicide Forest. It is not something locals take very lightly.
Logan Paul and his friends ventured into the forest and found a body. Instead of turning off the camera and calling for someone, he filmed it. Sure, I can see where he was in shock, and it was filmed without thinking because he is a vlogger.
What I can't see is why he chose to edit this into his video.
I'm sorry "Logang," but that is not okay. Those who are defending him, need to stop. Especially after the half-ass apology that he put out there. In the apology, he claims, "This is a first for me. I've never faced criticism like this before."
No Logan, you haven't.
Most people don't get this criticism because most people don't consciously show the world a dead body hanging from a tree. It is understandable that he wanted to use this video to raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention, but instead of making a short clip explaining what he saw, Logan Paul decided to show to viewers what he saw.
When a famous YouTuber does something wrong, it spreads like a wildfire. This is a classic case of it.
Another case of wrong is by Jenna Marbles. Although it isn't in the same frame as Logan Paul, it was wrong. Jenna went to a pet store and wanted to buy some fish. She was ultimately given the wrong information, and once the comments let her know -- the video was taken down.
A 50-minute apology was released by Jenna Marbles that explained her side of the story, and why she thought it was best to do what she did. A 50-minute video compared to a minute and a half apology video from Logan Paul seems a bit off.
I don't think Logan Paul needs to try to apologize anymore. He needs to get off the internet for good because people don't forgive easily.
