As the countdown to the new year is happening, there are so many different things running through people's minds. Such as, I hope this year is better than last year, I wish I was with [insert crush's name], or I can't wait to go abroad this year! These are just a few things that run through people's minds. Unfortunately for some, we tend to be too focused on the past. Maybe this year you didn't accomplish the GPA you wanted, or you made a mistake that caused you a loss of some sort, or you lost your job. Those things that happened in 2015 should in no way influence how you go about your life in 2016. It's a new year!
Do something that makes you proud. By doing this, the only place your heart and your feelings can go is up. Don't worry about fitting in and doing what all of your friends want you to do, do something that makes you proud.
It doesn't matter what mistakes you made in the past, don't dwell on the past. Make a new path for yourself, find something new you enjoy, find a new hobby. Don't tell yourself you can't do something just because of a past experience. Your past experiences have no bearing on how you can improve in the future.
Put all of your sorrows, mistakes, and grievances behind you. Bring in the new year with cheer, excitement, and motivation to be even better than the prior year. How do you do that?
Be yourself. Stop letting others dictate what you do with your life, take it into your own hands.
Tell yourself that you can be an even better you in the New Year because you can be. No one is perfect, regardless of the mistakes made. They don't matter. Make yourself even better than that person and make yourself even better than the person you were in your weakest and least proud moment.
If you accomplished a lot in 2015, then be proud of everything you've done and continue to strive to be that person. Your accomplishments aren't where your fortune stops, though. Continue to be that person you have so loved being. Be continuously proud of yourself, as you should be.
Let yourself enjoy the little things that come into your life.
Embrace the friends and family that truly make you happy and support you through everything. Get rid of the toxic people in your life that make you feel bad about yourself or that make you feel negative when you're with them no matter what.
Conquer the battles that come to you in the new year. Battles are inevitable, but it's the way you approach them that makes you you.
Never stop being yourself. Don't let someone change you. You are you for a reason, and maybe this year you finally were for the first time, or maybe you are unsure who you are right now, but let them come in the new year and just be yourself.
