For some bigger schools, I know that this week has already happened. But recruitment at FDU is this week! Here are 10 tips to make sure you have the best possible week you can- whether you're already a sister looking for new members or you're a potential new member for the semester!!

1. Be Yourself.

During recruitment, it's so easy to get caught up in being who people want you to be, be yourself!! As a potential new member or a sister, that's the best way to have an authentic experience in this hectic week.

2. Be As Open As Possible.

While Starbucks might be calling your name, water is the key to staying hydrated (awake) and on your A-Game! Redbull is all fun and games but water comes first!!

4. Eat 3 Meals a Day!

Right behind water, food is the most important thing! If you have to bring a snack, no harm no foul! No one is going to be upset with you for keeping yourself healthy.

5. Check-in with yourself.

It's easy to get caught up in everything. If it's for 5 minutes after or before every day of the recruitment process, that's how you know what you'll need. That way you will know if you should bring the extra snack, the extra water, or if greek life isn't your thing. There are always no hard feelings if you don't want to go out anymore, it's better than overwhelming yourself and hating the process of it all.

6. Do what makes you happy.

For me, just sitting in my room and thinking about how recruitment was going was what helped me make my decision in the end. However you get your me-time, take the time to do so! It could be super stressful but shouldn't be!

9. Sleep!

It's super easy to lose some ZZZs during recruitment. Do your best to get your 8-hours so you can rejuvenate. I know I am not the same person when I am well rested vs. when I'm tired.

10. HAVE FUN!!

For all parties during recruitment, it's easy to let yourself get stressed. Recruitment is supposed to be fun!! It's one of my favorite times in the semester because it's so exciting! Just remember that everything happens for a reason, and you deserve a kick-ass recruitment, so help yourself out!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
