Recruitment Ready

As the exciting time of the year where potential new members are getting ready for recruitment approaches, chapters are doing just the same. Planning is crucial to make the whole experience run smoothly. From pre-recruitment to bid day and everything in between, it is all organized in advance to ensure a positive recruitment. This process is all about being yourself and showing your values to attract those who will only continue to enhance your life. Dressing and feeling your best will help you attract the right people. If you are like me, you probably have a million in one things in your closet that are your “go to” outfits to wear, but they may not be the outfit to wear. There are many days to go through, which calls for many outfits. Here are some places that will be helpful to you to find the right thing to wear on the right day!

Sophie and Trey

This little, eclectic boutique serves shoppers looking for going out wear to formal attire. You can find trendy accessories to go along with every outfit you purchase. Shoes? Add them to my cart! Sophie and Trey allows you to expand your style to try new things! They always have the perfect everyday pieces you may need for any occasion. The beauty of this little boutique is that you can wear their clothing multiple times and dress it up or down. They allow you to make it your own while still falling under the guidelines of your recruitment checklist!

Pacsun

Golden State of Mind or Golden State of Shop? Pacsun is the perfect place to get an edgy but playful look that will allow you comfort and style. The different fashions that are offered allow you to pick from a range of styles that is best suited for you. They follow what is the latest and greatest on the runways. This California-based brand has a way of making their clothing a universal fashion. You may be used to shopping here before the season to get the cutest bathing suit and a cool cover-up, but this is the place to find a rocking pair of jeans that could be your potential best friend. After coming off of summer and being tan and healthy, this is the best way to reward yourself. With the endless number of brands they offer, you are bound to find something on your recruitment checklist!

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters not only has the trendiest items on the market, but their items should have a caution label of falling in love. It truly is love at first sight. Everything in this store aims to attract shoppers to see the quality over quantity of their clothing. Although their items can vary in price, the quality stays the same over the years. They allow playfulness and professionalism. This fashion-forward store allows comfort while still allowing you to express your individuality.

These are just a couple of places that I got lucky when I was a potential new member this time last year. Following a recruitment checklist can seem like hard work but finding the best clothes that are for you makes it even that much more rewarding. When you look good you feel good, which can allow you to attract the best people who will be a great fit for you. Whether you are potential new member or are on the the other side of recruitment (like me) it is important for you to remember to do the following this summer:

Break in yours shoes. This can be the difference of night and day! Shoes are just as important as the rest of your outfit. Make sure they are cute and comfortable.

Make sure that the clothing sizes are right for your body. Dress for the body you have, not what you wish you had. It will make a difference in how you feel and look.

Experiment with accessories this summer. Try to step out of your comfort zone and try some fun and flirty accessories. You never know, you could be the next trend setter yourself!!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
