Recruitment Emotions As Told By Grey's Anatomy

Ahhh, it's back to school for the sorority girls on each campus. Even though classes aren't officially beginning yet (praises), you know why you're here. A week full of countless hours of conversing, singing, doorstacks, bumping, etc. all preparing each organization for the Hunger Games of Greek Life AKA Formal Recruitment. There are many emotions to recruitment. Everyone is excited to get new members, but it's a lot harder to enjoy preparing for them when you're lacking sleep, food, and a social life outside of your 150 sisters. Here's a few of the MANY emotions we all feel at some point during this next week or so, as told by our favorite Grey's Anatomy characters:

When you're told to make conversations about things relatable to PNMs:

When your Recruitment Chair changes something last minute:

When you get told to smile after singing for five hours:

When you have a rush crush by day 1:

When you're told you're on all day shift after thinking you were only afternoon shift:

When your mom calls to check on you halfway through the week:

When your rush crush comes back for day 2:

When you're told to tell the PNMS your story:

When you can't keep a conversation going for longer than 5 minutes during practices:

When that one bossy girl has interrupted one too many times:

When you have zero prospects for a little but all your friends have at least one:

When you're told you weren't smiling enough in that last party:

When recruitment is finally over and you need to go in hiding for a while:

When you have to take 50 different pictures each with different poses on Bid Day:

When you go to the Bid Day party most excited about the food:

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
