How To Recognize If You're A Garbage Person

College students by nature are garbage people, are you one?

The cat is out of the bag and I am fully admitting that I may or may not be a garbage person. But the real question is are YOU a garbage person? Here are some signs that you might be one, and how you can turn your life around before the start of this semester.

You never seem to get enough sleep.

You go to bed at midnight, 1:00, maybe even 2:00 a.m. and when it comes time to wake up for class the next morning, you just snooze your alarm and get up five minutes before class in a panic. We've all been there before but for some of us its more of a bad habit than an accident.

What's the fix? Set your alarm early enough so you have time to do everything you would like before you start the day. Another big part of that is going to bed at a decent hour. I know we're in college and we often stay at the library 'till it closes but some of the best advice I was given by a professor was just to call it quits and get some sleep. If you have an exam the next day, that late night cramming is only going to clutter your brain even more and you'll lose more sleep and brain power than you would think.

You don't prioritize breakfast.

If you're anything like myself you often think about sleeping in more than the wonderful things you could do in the morning, like scarfing down some eggs and toast. Instead you're a sad garbage person who skips out on breakfast and waits 'till lunch to grub out.

Solution: Write down what you would like to make in the morning or even prepare it the night before. By doing this you are giving yourself a running start into getting something to eat without stressing about it in the morning. If you're really in a hurry make sure you wake up early enough to run by Jo's before the rush hits to grab a Soyrizo taco before class.

No stain? Wear it again? NO, STOP THAT.

Often times we don't stay on schedule with doing our laundry. I can totally agree that making trips to do laundry is a pain and no one really wants to do it. But when you're late for class and rummaging through your clothes looking for something clean you know you're going to wish you would have just done your laundry the day before. You don't want to be that person showing up to class in what you wore the day before or even sniffing your clothes to figure out what really is clean.

You can fix this by picking one day to do your laundry during the week. Heck, even get your roommates in on this so you can turn the wash room into a party rather than a boring chore you could care less about.

As long as you set that day and stick to it, you won't be the person instantly regretting your poor decision making the next day.

Truthfully, most college students are garbage people and we fully embrace it! We pig out with our unhealthy eating habits and hold our lack of regard for our physical health on a pedestal at times. By nature, we are complete garbage people during this time in our lives and we let it get the best of us more often than not.

So in the next coming weeks when we get excited to move back on campus to start our lives (away from our parents) again, remember to keep our shiny glass box of motivation dusted and gleaming throughout the semester. We all know how finals week and midterms eats us alive, so we might as well get back in the habit of handling things on an "adult" level.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
