As the holidays approach and we all have a relentless stream of Christmas jingles ringing in our heads, it gets to be the time when family gatherings and parties with friends are at every turn. Taking cues from everyone's favorite elf, I decided to scour the Internet for some recipes using his four main food groups in case you may be asked to bring a dish. Whether you are making these for just your family or for a room full of people, I can guarantee they will not be labeling you as a cotton-headed ninny muggins.
Food Group 1: Candy (Recipe: Candy Sushi)
This recipe is great because it is simple and doesn't require any baking! You just need to make a pan of Rice Krispie treats, cut them into small pieces, and top with Swedish Fish or place candy inside, roll it up, and wrap in pieces of Fruit Roll-Ups. This would be a good one to make with little cousins or nieces and nephews as well! Check out the recipe here and feel free to customize it to your liking!
Food Group 2: Candy Canes (Recipe: Peppermint Bark Donuts)
These are also super easy to make! Using boxed muffin mix and white melting chocolate, people will think you spent hours making these festive little guys when it's really foolproof. Learn how to make them here!
Food Group 3: Candy Corn (Recipe: Candy Corn Popcorn Balls)
The perfect combination of salty and sweet! These are also ridiculously simple to make, and fun to mold! I saw some recipes that added peanuts to these little balls of heaven as well. Again, feel free to play around and find your favorite combinations! Click the link below to find out how to make these!
Food Group 4: Syrup (Recipe: Caramel Maple Pretzel Bars)
These bars aren't quite as quick to make, but they do a great job of incorporating this important food group. With a little sweet, a little salty, and a lot of yum, these bars are sure to become a favorite! Look for the details on the website linked below!
I hope these recipes inspire you to eat your sweets! Make sure you share with Buddy, too! Happy Holidays!
