Family Recipe: Puerto-Rican Rice

Puerto-Rican Rice Recipe

What you will need:

Rice Pot,

Long -Grain Rice,

Bacon,

Sazón,

Gandules,

Sofrito,

Lime,

Garlic Salt.

Instructions:

Have a pot like this or a similar pot to cook with. This pot can be found at your local Mexican food market/store.

1) Cook Bacon- Put enough in the pot so there will be enough grease.


2) After the bacon is cooked, add a can of Gandules into pot. Add Spanish olives (Optional)

3) Cook the gandules with bacon for 5 minutes. Next, add sofrito.


4) Fill whole Sofrito jar with watter then add to pot- 4 times

5) Add 2 packets of Sazón into pot.

6) Add 2-3 TBS of Garlic Salt and stir

7)Put on high heat, once it boils add long grain rice. ¾ into pot

The rice should be filled like the picture above. Boil for 3-4 minutes- then lower heat to lowest level. Make sure the lid is on AT ALL TIMES! Cook for 1 ½ to 2 hours. Do not open lid until that time!

Add Lime juice when rice is fully cooked.
