Two professors from University of North Florida have been engineering toys for children that have severe disabilities for the last 3 years through the "Adaptive Toy Project." What happens is that physical therapy students as well as engineers come together within a lab to create a toy manufactured specifically for a child with specific needs. For example one of the toys created was for a child that had no control over his legs so they created a motorized car that the kid could drive in order to get around places.
