You pack all your items, say goodbye to your friends and family, and the next thing you know you’re in a whole new world. For me, and probably most people, when you leave for college you have a thought that, “This is where I will spend the best and craziest 4 years of my life.” But what you may (or may not) come to realize is that sometimes the first college you choose might not be right for you. And that’s okay. It took me awhile to come to the decision of transferring, it doesn’t seem as easy as one may think. For months now, I’ve lived with my best friends, got used to the class sizes and can tell you where every building is on campus. In my head it was a constant battle between staying at my college because I was comfortable and used to it or starting somewhere new. Starting at a new school sounded refreshing but intimidating to me. For the second year in a row, everyone will be a complete stranger and I will no longer know my way around. But as time went on, it was a risk I was willing to take. There is no reason to be unhappy at a school, when nobody is holding you hostage there. As hard or as frightening as transferring may be, it seems a lot better than remaining at a college where you truly don't fit in. I've learned a lot throughout my first year of college, but most importantly I've learned that I will be more successful and happy somewhere else.
