It almost seems like the drama surrounding Starbucks' holiday-themed cups is becoming a yearly tradition.
Who could forget the Great Cupmageddon of 2015, in which people proclaimed that Starbucks' plain red holiday cups (as opposed to their more traditional, winter-themed red cups) were an "attack on Christmas," and how people should boycott the company over something as simple as a cup design. Personally, I'm a sucker for minimalism, and the pure-red holiday cups actually struck a positive cord with me. But let's not forget the elephant in the room: people blew a gasket over a simple coffee cup design.
And yet, it happened, once again, in 2016, when Starbucks unveiled their presidential green cups, promoting a sense of unity throughout humanity. But the only unity promoted through these cups was yet another uproar about the "War on Christmas," which in itself is a beautiful disaster - considering the green cups weren't even related to the Starbucks red cup tradition. People worked themselves into a tizzy, and before they knew it, Starbucks has unveiled the true holiday cups for 2016. And of course, they closed their mouths, hung their heads, and purchased their favorite holiday drink, venti-sized.
Some people are just impossible to please, aren't they?
