Following what can be described as an unusual Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio The Democratic National Committee will hold their own convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this week. The 2016 Democratic National Convention is scheduled to take place from Monday, July 25th through Thursday July 28th. Many are anticipated to come out and support Hillary Clinton as she gets ready for the election in November. Many politicians and celebrities are coming out to show their support for the Democratic Nominee. Here's a look forward at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

First is a recap of the highlights of what happened at the RNC last week in Cleveland. Before the convention even begun there were many (mostly non violent) protests in the city with Pro and anti Trump groups arguing. The first night of the convention had a theme of "Make America Safe Again." Over the course of the night both Rep. Steve King and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani would cause controversy over their comments about race and police brutality, multiple Benghazi veterans were brought out and a video about the 2012 Benghazi Attack was shown, and Melania Trump gave her now infamous speech which had passages that were plagiarized from Michelle Obama's 2008 DNC speech. The second night with the theme of "Make America Work Again" is when Donald Trump was officially nominated as the Republican candidate for this up coming election. Two of Trump's children spoke of how kind and qualified he is to be president. Dr. Ben Carson reportedly went off script from his speech and caused controversy when he claimed that Mrs. Clinton "acknowledges Lucifer." The third night's theme was "Make America First Again." Ted Cruz also reportedly went off script when he did not endorse Mr. Trump but instead told voters to "vote their conscience." Conservative radio commentator Laura Ingraham caused controversy when she appeared to salute Adolf Hitler. The fourth and final night of the convention's theme was "Make America One Again." The co-founder of Pay Pal, Peter Thiel, spoke as to why he is proud to be American, proud to be Gay, and why he is standing by the Republican party this November. Mr. Trump finished off the convention by accepting the nomination and covered topics that included Mrs. Clinton, ISIS, and immigrants. A full list of the schedule and speakers can be found here.

Second is a preview of what is expected to happen later this week at the DNC in Philadelphia. Due to the fact that it has not happened yet, there will not be a recap. Monday's theme is expected to be "United Together." Slated to speak are First Lady Michelle Obama and Senator Bernie Sanders. Senator Sanders was scheduled to have a rally before the convention but the rally permit was denied. Tuesday's theme is expected to be "A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families." Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to speak as well as The Mothers of the Movement. The Mothers of the Movement are mothers of children who were killed by gunfire and their members include Gwen Carr (Mother of Eric Garner) and Sybrina Fulton (Mother of Trayvon Martin). Wednesday's theme is to be "Working Together." President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are both scheduled to speak. The theme for Thursday is "Stronger Together." Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea Clinton are both scheduled to speak. Celebrities that are scheduled to speak in support of Mrs. Clinton include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Hall of Fame Basketball player and US Global Cultural Ambassador), Lena Dunham (Actress and Equal Rights Activist), and Katy Perry (Singer and LGBTQ Advocate). A full list of the schedule and speakers can be found here.

Finally, in anticipation of the convention the city of Philadelphia has put up 57 painted donkeys each painted by a local artist and representing one of the participating delegations throughout the city. A map to all of them as well as other things to go to and places to see in the city this week can be found here.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
