Talk about a heated debate with Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. They were both ready for anything. Whether it was jabs at one another on who could handle the job better. Although, not much was said in terms of plans for both parties, even with some of the topic questions asked. But I guess that's how every Presidential Debate goes. Who gets the final word or who can make the other look bad first. As well as who has their facts correct.
It was more talk on past scandals than there were on plans for the United States and more insults than there were with boosting their own self image. This is due to the fact that Americans know exactly how the two of them are. It's time to tell us, the people, what you plan to do. Mr. Trump honestly thinks "make America great again" is all an American wants to hear. When in reality his phrase only symbolizes a more divided nation. Or even Hilary who completes the derogatory definition of a Politician, how can we trust you?
How do you plan to go about the issues when all you want to do is try to dodge the questions? This is shown especially with Trump as he continued to ramble on everything but the question given to him.
Throughout the debate, each candidate is given specific question on current issues. The mediator was Lester Holt a Journalist for the NBC Nightly News, he asked topics that ranged from America's direction, how to achieve prosperity, and how to secure America.
Let's focus on how the candidates went about these topics. Clinton outweighed Trump on the facts, but his attacks took a far better effect. With the outlook on American workers, Clinton responds by saying we need new jobs, good jobs, with rising incomes. By putting more efforts into advanced manufacturing and technologies, and helping small businesses. Clinton wants to first raise the national minimum wage for lower and middle class workers. As for Trump he states that China is devaluing the currency of our products, Mexico is taking our jobs, and as far as child care he believes deducting the average costs and giving six weeks of maternity leave. Trump also wants to cut income tax rates while capping deductions for the wealthy.
When Lester asks Mr. Trump how he plans to bring back American manufacturers, after dodging it the first time, "And what you do is you say fine, you want to go to Mexico or some other country, good luck, we wish you a lot of luck."
As for Clinton she reminded the audience on the great recession and our tax policies, to try and avoid another one.
"And here’s what we can do - we can deploy a half a billion more solar panels. We can have enough clean energy to power every home. We can build a new modern electric grid. That’s a lot of jobs. That’s a lot of new economic activity," said Clinton.
Their was a clash on Donald Trump's tax returns, he is free to release them under audit. Although he never got around to do so. He immediately defended himself by turning it towards Clinton's deleted emails.
She responds by saying,"If you have paid zero, that means zero for troops, zero for vets, zero for schools or health." She even tried to apologize on her mistake for using a "private email." Apology or not, this doesn't change anything in terms of handling classified information as well as policies.
As for America's directory and security, Trump said that we need law and order with all the crime that is going on, and in his case, are caused mostly by illegal immigrants. While Clinton calls for a criminal justice reform, to make sure communities are respected, and to also tackle the gun violence that we have seen this past year.
We have heard politicians deliver promises for so long that it becomes vexing and harder for voters to be concerned anymore. Voices are being ignored more than ever and it's up to the candidates to help change that.
