"You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection”
 – Buddha

From young girls, women have been constantly pressured to look and act a certain way. We're either too fat or too skinny. Our boobs and butts are either too big or too small. We either wear to much makeup or not enough.

About two years ago I came across New York native Rebecca Sonia Boria who now resides in Seattle, WA. She is an unapologetic plus size fashion blogger who promotes self love and body positivity. I fell in love with her style, her confidence (everyone knows I love a strong woman), and her drive to be successful in life. I got the chance to interview someone I can now call a dear friend of mine. We spoke about how she got started in the Fashion industry and her plans for the future. Take a look and ride the Rebecca Sonia wave.

So what got you into fashion?

Ever since I was young I loved clothing. Throughout my high school years I struggled a lot, I was uncomfortable, and I couldn’t find trendy clothing in my size. It was difficult for me because there weren't that many options. Truth be told that made me hate myself. After high school, I took a year or two off to figure out what I really wanted to do with my life. I was never interested in being a nurse or a social worker although those are great choices it wasn’t for me. I finally decided to go to school for fashion design. Six months into it I left. it wasn’t a good fit for me. I knew I wanted to do something within this industry, I just didn’t know exactly what. After some soul searching and sleepless nights, I came up with my blog.

When and why did you start blogging?

Well, I started blogging in April of 2015 however, there is a relaunch of my website on August 22, 2016 so be on the look out. The root of this all was because I didn’t see my self in other bloggers. There was no representation of me and if I wanted to see that, I had to be the one to do so. My main goal is for women to find themselves and to love themselves for who they are no matter the size. Whether a woman is my size or any size for that matter, we should all feel comfortable wearing what ever we want no mater. Even if it isn't “ socially acceptable”. I want to break those fashion barriers that society has on plus size women. Fashion shouldn't have rules, it shouldn’t have a “guest list”. Everyone should be invited to feel beautiful and confident in there own skin. So, if I want to whip out a bikini I'll do so, and I'll do it proudly.

Do you plan on collaborating with any companies in the future?

My aspiration is to collaborate with Target or ASOS. That's one of my five year goals.

What are you doing now to get yourself out there?

I go to a handful of fashion shows out here in Seattle, as well as networking events. I leave my business card EVERYWHERE I go. No one walks out without knowing who Rebecca Sonia is.

Now let's take a look at some vibes Rebecca gives us through her fashion . Who you wearin' girl !

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
