Reasons Your Guy Best Friend Will Always Be #1

If you're a girl without a guy best friend, you should probably go find one because you're missing out on some of the better things of life. Here's just a few of those things.

1. Everything you know about fighting, it comes from him.

Wrestling with your guy best friend is not like wrestling with your boyfriend. The difference? He'll tackle you to the ground and put you in a choke hold until you tap out or your face starts turning blue.

2. Have thick skin? He's probably the reason why.

He's always joking with you and never hesitates to take it too far. I can't count on two hands how many times I've heard "Oh, did you get scared because you looked in the mirror again?" But it's okay because I love him all the same.

3. Need a back up date? He's your go to guy.

He's the guy that you can call and say "If you really love me, you won't let me go to prom solo." And I can promise you, he'll always come through and you'll have more fun with him than the loser who dumped you.

4. No one believes you when tell them you aren't dating.

Yes I love him. No, not like that. We're not dating and never will. Can you imagine dating your big brother? Yeah, well that's what it would be like if we dated. Gross, huh?

5. But that doesn't mean you're not jealous when he gets into a new relationship.

Having to share your right-hand man with another girl? No way. But you'll live and eventually you'll grow to like her because this is someone who understands just how annoying he can really get at times.

6. In a way, he's worse than your dad when it comes to boyfriends.

If you're anything like me, your guy friend is the last one to know about the new guy in your life and you sometimes wonder if you should tell him at all. Telling him usually means a full interrogation. But hey, he only means well.

7. He can see a guy's true intention before you can.

My best friend would be the first to tell you that I never listen to him, and I would be the first to tell you that he loves to say "I told you so." Your guy friends can always tell if another guy is serious or just wasting your time, don't take him lightly when he says to kick a guy to the curb.

8. He's always there to pick up the pieces.

Of course after rubbing it in your face that he was once again right, he's down to listen to you rant and tell you how much better you can do. Let's face it, his pep talks are the best there is.

9. Your parents love him almost as much as they love you.

My parents LOVE my best friend. Actually my whole family does. If we're on FaceTime and they hear his voice, there's a good chance they'll end up having a whole conversation of their own. My parents almost grounded me for not sending enough letters to him when he was in basic training. That's true love.

10. You wouldn't trade each other for the world.

Your guy best friend is the one boy you know you can trust and he'll never break your heart. He's the keeper of your secrets and your favorite person to laugh with. He'll always have your back and stick with you thick and thin. So give your guy best friend a hug and tell him you appreciate him. And just ignore it when he starts picking on you for being so cheesy, because deep down, it made him happy to hear it.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
