Netflix original series are outstanding, and everyone knows it. But Netflix has outdone itself with this new show. "One Day at a Time" follows the life of a Cuban family. A single, veteran mom raising two kids with her own mom living under the same roof. This show has made me cry, laugh, and occasionally sob. I can honestly say I've never seen a show bring to light so many issues we currently face in our society and do it well too. Not to mention the show features an incredibly diverse and kick-ass cast. If you're still not convinced I hope these reasons can convince you to spend your next weekend binge-watching this show.

1. It deals with treating mental illnesses in a positive light.

2. It questions and it embraces religion, showing atheists and Christians can co-exist under the same roof.

3. It brings to life the reality of living as an immigrant in the US.

4. These ladies are all badass feminists.

5. Positive LGBT+ representation.

6. These characters break gender norms.

7. It's hilarious.

8. Positive latino representation.

9. This...

As you can see this show has tons of representation, and positively tackles many issues other shows are too afraid and narrow-minded to address. It's a feel-good show that'll give you everything all your other TV shows lack, and it should definitly be the next show you decide to watch.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
