8 Reasons You Should Be Watching Stranger Things

"Stranger Things" is a new Netflix original show that has become pretty popular overnight, and for a good reason. It's a science fiction show, but it has laugh-out-loud moments, great acting, and enough government conspiracy to make anyone over-analyze. If you have not already watched it, here are some reasons why you should:

1. Dustin

Dustin is hands-down the best part of the show. He's hilarious, smart and is the mediator of his group of friends. When they get into a fight, he's the one to make sure they make up. And when anything somewhat serous is happening, he definitely brings the comic relief.

2. It's the right amount of scary.

It's not scary enough to give you nightmares, but it will make you jump a few times. As someone who hates scary movies, it's definitely nothing you can't handle.

3. Government Conspiracies

Who doesn't love a good government conspiracy? The show has plenty of it, accompanied with a side of Big Brother.

4. It doubles as a crime show.

There's plenty of crime happening in the show to figure out. If you love a good mystery, you'll love this show.

5. Great acting...by a bunch of kids.

The main characters in the show are a bunch of middle school kids, and boy can they act. All the actors are crazy talented, but for young kids to be able to convey all the emotions and action that the show calls for is quite impressive.

6. The action.

The show has some pretty cool things happen, that aren't always realistic. But then again, it is a science fiction show.

7. Winona Ryder is a lead in the show.

Winona plays one of the leads on the show and definitely deserves an award for her acting. Her character calls for her to portray a handful of intense emotions, and she does it well. If this isn't enough to convince you to watch, then I don't know what else will.

8. It takes place in the 80's.

The show is set in the 1980's in small-town Indiana and is so spot-on you would think that it was actually filmed thirty years ago. The creators of the show seem to have the time period down to a tee, from the cars the characters drove, to the clothes, to the wallpaper in the homes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
