9 Reasons Winter Is The Best Season

It's easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

Winter is, and always will be, my favorite season. Every year, I wait and wait and wait for the temperature to drop and the days to shorten. So many others hate it with a passion, but I will never understand. So, all you summer-loving people, listen up, because I'm about to drop some truth about the season you claim to despise.

1. So many holidays

Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year's, Valentine's Day, Groundhog Day. What does summer have? Fourth of July? Labor Day and Memorial Day? Sure, they're holidays, but there's not a whole lot of celebration around any of them but the Fourth.

2. Girls don't have to shave

I mean, technically, girls don't have to shave at all. They can choose not to even during the summer. But for those of us who shave religiously during the warmer seasons, winter is the time to let our chewbacca legs thrive under leggings and fuzzy socks.

3. The Bachelor

The best worst show on television airs in January! Time to crack open the wine and ready your twitter account. Let's f*cking GO!

4. Winter Break

This mainly applies to students and teachers. During the winter time, we get anywhere from a week to a month off from school... in the middle of the school year! It's a welcome opportunity to take a breather and prepare for the spring semester.

5. Cuddling in front of the fire

Whether it's with your child, your significant other, your pet or just a good book, nothing beats a nice night by the fire with a glass of wine or cocoa-- or red wine hot chocolate (the best of both worlds!)

6. Warm baths

While these can be a year-round thing, in the winter it's refreshing to huddle under the warm water without the risk of overheating due to the temperature outside. Bonus points if you have an outdoor hot tub! You can use the snow to keep your beer or soda cold while you simmer in the bubbling water.

8. Snow

Okay, so this is a controversial opinion, but I LOVE snow. As it falls so softly and silently to the white-coated ground below, it's like a naturally-made poem. And freshly-fallen snow glitters under the stars like the best highlighter on the market. It's so beautiful... as long as you don't have to drive in it.

9. Easier to get warm than it is to get cool

My final point is the one that is most important to me. Winter is definitely the most convenient season to get comfortable! In the summer, it's impossible to cool down without air conditioning and ice packs, and you can only take off so many clothes. However, during the winter, it's easy to bundle up so only the tip of your nose is cold.

Stay warm and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
