Millennials' Debate Struggles

Reasons Why "You're Too Sensitive" Should Stop Being An Argument
CryBaby

Generations before the millennials often claim that we are all too sensitive or that we're too politically correct and that we get our feelings hurt too easily.

Here are most of the things we get sensitive about:
-Racial differences
-Gender inequality
-Rape, abuse, and domestic violence
-Mental illnesses
-Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other related issues
-Religious differences

However, if you look at that list, you'll notice that we millenials often tend to deal with the issues we're "so sensitive about," more so than how these issues were handled in the past. We also have access to technology, so we can read up on the facts of the issues. We can connect with people who are like-minded. And everyone has access to multiple forums of social media so that they can express their beliefs and speak their minds.

In times passed, those who came before us would generally sweep these issues under the rug and ignore them. Not everyone did this, but it happened often. It was difficult to get information about those issues that wasn't either incorrect or totally biased. It was hard to express an opinion publicly, let alone meet up with people of similar values. That's why it used to take so long to make a difference for the better.

So now we're able to reach out and talk to others and be validated in our opinions. We're able to talk about those same opinions online, to dozens of people at once. Maybe some of us are overly sensitive about frivolous subjects. But as a whole, we're sensitive about issues that are outdated, that need change. We're sensitive about actions and beliefs that have caused not only discrimination and oppression, but mutilation and murder of the afflicted groups. We're sensitive because we recognize what's going wrong, and what we can do to better and empower these groups.

Now, there are extremists in every group. But they are a very small minority. The Ku Klux Klan freaks out over things that go against their beliefs and send death threats, but no one is branding Christians as too sensitive. Misandrists who label themselves as feminists and hate men are deemed "too sensitive", but not all feminists are. A similar thing happened with ISIL: now all Muslims are deemed as so sensitive to Western culture that all of them are "terrorists".

The opinions of the extremists shouldn't undermine the entire group, and that's the point I’m trying to make. Which is why I mentioned that SOME people do get upset at the drop of the hat, but that's not the majority. And people shouldn't use "you're too sensitive!" as an excuse to throw out the opinions of millennials as a whole.

So stop being so up in arms about us "being overly sensitive".

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
