There is a difference between just visiting a new place, and actually living, immersing, and embracing yourself in one.

Reasons Why You Should Study Abroad In London

I am now entering my fourth week out of the six weeks that I will be studying abroad in London, and I can officially say that coming here was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Like London there is no other. Here are some reasons why you should study abroad (or travel to) London.

Travel

Getting around London is crazy easy. Once you are in Central London, everything is within walking distance, which also means you can get in that workout that you are dreading without even trying. Great experience, great bod!

Not only that, but if you end up wanting to explore the outer boroughs of London as well, there is tubes and buses that can get you there. Fares are about 2 pounds a ride and all you need is an Oyster card, it’s super simple!

And, if you really want to get crazy and explore other areas of the island, there are trains that will get you there within one to two hours and fares are incredibly cheap. It doesn’t get any more convenient.

Diversity

There is so much diversity in this city it is astounding. Not only am I talking about race, but also religion, sexuality, and even fashion (I am continuously getting new outfit ideas).

People are so comfortable with who they are and the city is so open to all of these differences. Being surrounded by all of these differences not only changes your perspective but also makes you become more aware and comfortable with who you are as well.

Entertainment

You actually have to be trying to be bored if you find yourself with nothing to do while in London. There is always something to do. First of all there are all of the iconic London attractions to visit such as the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Tower of London and Harrods, just to name a few.

There are also subdivisions in Central London like Covent Garden or Soho, which are full of shopping stores, restaurants, casinos, and beautiful architecture. You could honestly dedicate one day to just walking around London and admiring all of beautiful architecture around the city.

During the summer months there are also festivals and concerts to attend. Not only that, but there are also markets all around the city open 7 days a week, and the cool part is that no two are the same. One of the coolest parts is that sometimes you will wander into an event you didn't even know was going on, and it will end up being one of the best things you do while abroad.

These are just three reasons of many for why you should study abroad in London. There is a difference between just visiting a new place, and actually living, immersing, and embracing yourself in one. There is so much more to see and do than what is on the surface. Studying abroad in London gives you the perfect opportunity to do that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
