Everyone always thinks it so amazing when I say I studied Spanish for seven years and still studying Arabic. The one thing people forget learning a language is a lifelong thing it never ends because one can always practice more. Now I am going to list the many benefits of learning a language.

1. Job Opportunities

This is probably one of the number one reasons people want to learn a language. Knowing another language or several other languages opens up so many job opportunities for a person. Being able to speak several languages is a skill that not many people have, making it a highly desirable skill to possess. Being able to speak another language allows you to have job options all over the world open up to you. Also it will allow you to communicate to others who may not speak your native tongue.

2. Test Scores

Many studies show that knowing multiple languages helps improve test scores amongst students. Which I believe this for sure because learning a new language really exercises one's brain.

3. Travel

While traveling in a foreign country being able to speak to people makes life so much easier. It allows you to explain yourself clearly and also when you feel your lost then you can read signs maybe. Also it allows you to make friends with locals easy which is always fun. Being able to communicate is helpful also when shopping in local markets where haggling is the norm. Plus who doesn't love to travel and meet people?

4. Culture

Whenever you learn a language it helps a lot when diving into the culture. A lot of phrases in languages reflect cultural values about things. Also if you are studying a group of people and their culture speaking the language helps you really find the information you are looking for while doing your research.

5. Cool Factor

Plus like who doesn't feel cool being able to speak another language? I love when people ask me to say stuff in Spanish or Arabic. It shows how people appreciate the skill you have acquired. Which after hours of studying and working hard to have someone appreciate and think its amazing you know another language is a great feeling.

My advice to anyone is it is never too late to start learning a language in life. Lifelong learning it important people so never say well I am too old to learn. Cause everyday is a learning experience and starting the process of learning a language could be that experience you start. Also think about how much you family could also benefit if you all decided to learn a language together. So to anyone making excuses about how they aren't good at languages stop. Learning a language is never easy just requires hard work so do not give up.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
