On my love for reading.

Reasons Why You Should Dive Into A Good Book
The Huffinton Post

If you have never picked up a book that you genuinely enjoy reading, keep looking. Of course, those required billion page text book readings are more than annoying, and even sometimes boring, but finding a book that you really enjoy can be life changing and open your eyes to so many other great books.

I enjoy school, but I always like summer break and holidays when I don't have a ton of school work to focus us, and I can direct my free time to reading books. I enjoy almost every genre except books that are history related, while some people love this topic! I am really attracted to mystery novels. Something about the suspense of them really makes me want to keep reading, and I usually fly the book if that's the case.

When I was younger, my nose was always in a book. I am mostly an introvert, even though when I am brought out of my shell I'm really loud and crazy. However, when my family would come over for holidays, and I was really into a book, I would sneak the book out into the living and sit among my family, pretending I was listening to their conversations, when really, I was reading.

Reading brings you to a different place and a different time. Sometimes we get so caught up in the small things and life, and all of us need a break from our worries at some point. Getting caught up in a good book can free you mind for a little while and make you realize that everything is going to be okay. It is definitely a stress reliever that is looked over a lot.

Some people may say that they aren't a reader, but I believe that is only because they haven't found the right book to let themselves become lost in. Not only is reading a stress reliever, it also makes you smarter. Reading opens up your mind to a realm of possibilities, and makes really think about things deeply, and I think that is important. When we read another person's work, we are opening our mind up to ideas we may not have thought of on our own.

I have so much admiration and respect for authors. I think it is amazing that they were able to look inside themselves come up with an idea, and put that idea into the world for many others to enjoy and share. They put so much time and work into novels, and I feel like they need to be appreciated a lot more.

I challenge you to pick up a book sometime soon and explore it. Read about the context of the book, take a look at the author's life, and just really appreciate the work that is in front of you. There is something really amazing a hard copy book being in your hand. I will never stop appreciating books.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
