Reasons Why Yoga Is Good For The Soul

Everyone knows about the recent fad known as yoga, but is it really just a fad? These are reasons why yoga will withstand the test of time, unlike those one timers like high-waisted shorts, silly bands, choker necklaces, and as of recent Donald Trump (whose stay is long overdue).

1. You gain core strength—hello swimsuit season!

Who doesn’t love a good six-pack? Yoga involves a lot of balance and movement which involves using your core and is thus a great way to build core strength. You will be rocking that summer suit in no time.

2. You meet cute guys.

Single? No problem! Finding a significant other who enjoys the same things you do is very important, and if you are looking for someone who likes yoga as much as you then problem solved! A lot of the yoga studios have some pretty cute yogis. Not only will you be able to meet and bond with someone who shares similiar likings, but you will also be sure he is fit!

3. You increase your self esteem.

“Look good, feel good” is what I always say. When you workout, you feel better. Even though you aren’t lifting weights, yoga requires you to use and work your body weight. There are also classes that target specific areas! Some of these classes include ab sculpting, hot yoga, and hatha yoga, to name a few.

4. You have a fresh new look on life.

Yoga is all about having a calm and positive mindset. Class is taught in a way that revolves around listening to your breath, being content with how your life is going, and being one with the rest of the universe. If you love yourself, you will love others. All you need is a little guidance and positive meditation.

5. You get that perfectly sculpted, yoga-pant-ready booty.

Wondering how to get that cute guy’s attention in your local neighborhood grocery store? Yoga pants. While this is not my way of getting a guy’s attention, many people enjoy yoga’s ability to sculpt one’s booty into something that will look great in all pants, especially yoga pants.

6. You increase flexibility.

Yoga is a great way to increase flexibility because you are constantly stretching and moving in ways that make you use muscles necessary for being flexible, making the reach for the bowl of popcorn a whole lot easier. Netflix anyone??

7. It’s a great bonding experience.

While your boyfriend might object, your BFFs won’t! Yoga is a wonderful way to do something fun instead of going shopping or buying food. It is slowly becoming every girl’s best friend. Why not introduce it to your actual best friend too?

As you can see, yoga is very beneficial. It is no wonder yoga has been growing in popularity and will never go out of style.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
