"Wow, Sarah, you wear a lot of black."

I never really thought much of it. After all, I was used to wearing all black at dance as a dress code. I guess it carried over into my everyday wardrobe and it's been a staple since then. It made it much easier to get dressed in the morning and wearing all black made me feel better about myself for the following reasons:

1. Don't have to think about it

I rolled out of bed at 9:20 for a 9:30 class, threw on the first pair of leggings, shirt, and shoes I had and made it to class in time. You can never go wrong with black. Who would've known?

2. Look Ma, no (visible) stains!

My closest isn't entirely made up of black clothes, there's some white, grey, and other neutrals scattered out there. But the problem with gray is sweat stains, and my white clothes get dirty really quickly from makeup stains on the collar or spilling Chai on the sleeve. It's a pain sometimes.

3. Professional everyday

Black always looks professional. I call it my "everyday power color." It adds a little class to my everyday outfits. I save the bolder colors like red for special events, but honestly, black works for those too.

4. Flattering on everyone

In theatre arts, we were taught that black makes someone look slimmer on stage. Black absorbs more light, so there is less light reflected. It also appeals to every skin undertone, cool, neutral, or warm.

5. Pairs well with other colors

Black and another accent color will be a foolproof color combination. You can never go wrong with it.

5. Color psychology

Black is associated with power, elegance, and formality. Clothing is another form of expression and these are all qualities I want to present to others.

6. Classic and cool

My ideal style is very classic with a little bit of cool, leather jacket vibes. Wearing black makes me feel a little closer to that even if I'm just wearing leggings and a sweater to class.

7. Embrace my inner Addams Family persona

Wednesday Addams said it best, "I'll stop wearing black once they make a darker color." All black outfits doubly serve as easy, last-minute Halloween costumes!

If anyone ever tells you that wearing all black is fashion faux-pas, please share this article with them to prove them wrong. Wear whatever makes you feel like your best self because that is the most important thing at the end of the day.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
