5 Reasons Why It Is Time To Go Home For The Summer

A few reasons why I am 100% ready to go home for summer break and leave college for awhile!

While being at school does have its amazing perks, freedom and advantages that being at home may not have, it is finally time that we go home and enjoy our long break before coming back to school in the fall. Here are a few reasons why I have never been more ready to go home.

1. Schoolwork < The Beach

It is finally feeling hot at school and you don't have enough clothes to go to the beach here and tan, while at home you have the options of millions and the beach so close (to some). For me, the beach is my happy place; when it becomes higher than 75 degrees at home, I drive to the beach that morning and will stay all day till it gets chilly.

Since school has been going on since September for many, it is time we get a break from studying all day and we get to relax at the beach. We deserve it since we have spent the following eight months studying away in our small dorm rooms.

2. Sick and tired of the same gross dining hall food

Having the gross dining hall food every day gets sickly tiring to the point where GrubHub and UberEats are the only options anymore. Going home means fresh food at each meal and finally healthy and good options that don't make you sick to your stomach, like the ones at school.

Who doesn't miss mom's cooking and the amazing food nearby town?

3. Reunited with the OG's (our Family & Friends)

It's been awhile since we've been able to have a ton of time to do whatever with the people we love and miss most: our family and friends. As hard as it has been leaving my family and friends behind, going home for four months means endless memories and time to do whatever we want with our friends.

Whether it is sitting around or going out and doing fun things in the nice weather, the summer is the perfect time to catch up with everyone and finally get to spend quality time with our loved ones.

4. Our own space and finally... the bed.

Yes, I love my roommate and sharing a room with one of my best friends but nothing is better than coming home to a freshly made bed every day and a clean room where I can, at last, be alone.

Finally, there are no worries about a mess that may look like my current dorm room or quietness that I have been long waiting. Sleeping in my bed at home is nothing compared to my school bed, and being able to sleep in that for four months is extremely exciting.

5. Vacationing all summer long

Whether it is going away for a week or two with your family or spending the weekend at a friend's lake or beach house, anytime spent away from your home in the summer is a perfect getaway. The amazing weather spent by a pool with a drink in your hand; how could it get any better?

Take a trip with some friends to the beach or a lake for the weekend and enjoy the summer sun before school starts up again!

While college gives you freedom and time away from home to explore, meet friends and figure out your future, the time we get to spend home should be taken for granted. After a long year long of work that never seems to end, it is finally time we go home for awhile.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
