4 Reasons Why Everyone Should Adventure
Tomasz Furmanek

Adventuring is important. Whether it is to the next state over or another continent, adventuring is essential.

Every individual is constantly growing, changing, and transforming. How and in what way is a completely different topic. However, I strongly believe that by traveling, one grows in one of the deepest possible ways and here is why.

1. Learning about different people.

By traveling, one learns about different cultures, societies, and how other people live their life. This gives a great understanding into how different people are the way they are because of different upbringings. As a part of the future, I think it is fantastic to try to gain an appreciation for the variety that exists in today's world. People are not the same. We are all snowflakes, unique in different ways, and by adventuring outside of our own personal comfort zones, we learn and grow. Hopefully, by getting out there and seeing how other's live, then we can gain an understanding that we are all one people made with the same love and image as a greater being. Maybe then, we can all have a better understanding and love all other people like they deserve.

2. Growing as a person.

We never truly know what we can do unless we are pushed to the extreme. By adventuring, we push ourselves to the edge of comfort, finding the exhilarating boundary of being lost, but discovering absolutely amazing hidden gems. These gems can be people that have knowledge that we can learn from, buildings that have history that is worth not forgetting, or food that tastes nothing like anything that has been tasted before. With this appreciation and empathy, people become more accepting and welcoming of things that are just as correct as how they do things, but simply are a different way of getting to the same point. Growth is important and traveling and adventuring helps instigate that growth.

3. Realizing a greater force.

There is something about going on an adventure that makes all of my other problems simply seem less important. In the grand scheme of things, very few matters that I obsessively worry about make that much of a difference in the long run. Taking an adventure proves how small an individual is on the grand scheme. There are so many people and creatures in this world, that being angry and hateful has no rightful existence. There is nothing like immersing oneself in the beauty of nature or the beauty of the man made world to show you that your problems are not as overwhelming as they seem and that everything will turn out alright in the end. Traveling reminds me that on a day to day basis, what stresses me out does not have that big of an impact. I can change my life to be what I want it to be. There truly is so much greater out there than myself and being self centered is not worth it. There is too much exploring and understanding to happen instead of being hung up on the little things in life.

4. It is good for the soul.

When you travel with people, you learn a lot about them. I once heard that if you travel well with someone, keep them around. People you can travel with are souls you can adventure and grow with. I believe our souls are all interconnected and long to be at peace with one another. What better way than to adventure and learn about other people?!

I strongly believe in adventuring for the soul, adventuring to grow, and traveling to understand. I am perfectly ok with my wanderlust because I know it makes me a more understanding person.

Never stop adventuring. Never stop growing. The only person who defines the person you are is you, yourself.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
