12 Reasons Why Dunkin' Donuts is the Best

As college students, many of us absolutely need coffee to function to get through the day. While there are many spots on and off campus to get cofee, Dunkin' Donuts is the place to be. I got hooked on their iced coffee my freshman year, and now Dunkin' is a part of my daily routine. If you haven't had it before, maybe this list will help persuade you.

1. Iced coffee.

This can honestly make up the whole argument from this list. There are so many different flavor options and choices (I highly recommend caramel swirl). Also, it's good anytime of year, despite the feeling of frostbite holding it walking across campus in December.

2. Food.

I mean, it has donuts in the name for a reason ... and the munchkins! The munchkins rock and the donuts are always decorated with fun holiday sprinkles. They even have a healthy choices program to give even more options. They provide "smart swaps" on the menu and are labeled for lower calorie options. Or if you aren't a health nut, they have the best greasy breakfast sandwich options as well.

3. Campus perks.

If you are fortunate enough to have Dunkin' Donuts on your meal plan (another reason why Virginia Tech is the best) you are living large. I am comfortable saying a 1/3 of my meal plan goes to Dunkin'. I have to sometimes stop myself from going twice a day due to convenience.

4. It's simple.

I have never heard someone say, "I'd like a large coffee, no foam, extra hot, with three pumps of syrup, soy, sugar free, fat free (etc.), coffee at Dunkin'. It's just your average people just needing some caffeine in the morning, or at nine at night anticipating an all nighter studying.

5. The price.

It's nice not having to pay around $4 for an iced coffee, amirite?

6. So many fun names!

Dunks, DD — and of course the slogan: America runs on Dunkin'. Preach, Dunkin', preach.

7. FUN FACT: There are more Dunkin Donuts in NYC than there are Starbucks...

New York City knows what is up!

8. When they know your order.

Even better, when they know your name. That's when you know you've made it.

9. Gift cards.

Those do not last very long and definitely burn a hole in your pocket. They also have DDPerks rewards program! They even give you a free beverage on your birthday — how nice!

10. Social media.

Whoever is running Dunkin's Instagram kills the game. They post the cutest pictures and are always super bright and happy. Heads up — it'll make you crave donuts and coffee though, so beware.

11. The straws and cup hoarding.

There's a chance there is an abundance of straw wrappers and cups taking up space in all of your cup holders in your car.

12. Your day isn't complete without it.

A day without Dunkin' is a day wasted.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
