Why Dogs Are Actually A Girl's Best Friend

You know, there's a special relationship that can be formed unlike other. That relationship is between a girl and her dog. Some people aren't lucky enough to have a dog come into their life and for some, a cat is the way to go. But for those girls out there that understand what I'm talking about, this is for you.

I have been blessed to many dogs in my life as I have grown older and at each age, my dog has held a different meaning in my life. There has never been a year that I haven't had a loving and wonderful dog by my side. There are a million reasons why dogs are amazing creatures but these are the most important.

1. You can tell them absolutely anything and they won't judge you.

Okay, so they may not have the ability to express their judgement but when you look into this loving eyes, they have a certain way of letting you know that no matter they will always love you and protect you. You can't say that about everyone. And when you're not looking for advice, but rather someone just to console you, your dog is there for you.

2. They will always love you, no matter what.

I mentioned this above, but it's too important not to mention again. It's rare to find someone who will stick by your side and follow you anywhere if they know everything about you. Of course family and those couple of friends who for life can fill this role, but not like a dog. You can't find a look that is that loving in just about anyone.

3. They're always down too cuddle - ALWAYS.

You know when you just that feeling like all you want to do is crawl into bed and cuddle? Well that's where your dog comes in. There will never come a time or place that your cuddle buddy isn't down for nap time or some snuggles. Whether your dog is big or small, the more cuddles, the better.

4. They will forever be your adventure buddy.

Any adventure, anywhere, they will be by your side. They will follow you wherever you go. That's one of the most amazing things about dogs. They are fearless and inspiring when it comes to exploration. They show you that you can go where no one has gone and can explore a place that looks forbidden. Because why not? Of course, this is just a metaphor, but it's true. You can uncover and discover things you never knew existed, and have some fun along the way.

5. You will always be protected with them by your side.

In return for their love and protection, all they ask is that you treat them with respect. If you can do that, they will protect you to the best of their ability and love you unconditionally. Your dog will always stay by your side.

6. Forget about boys - and diamonds- dogs are better.

There is no boy out there that could ever replace your best friend. Boys are great and yes, there will be one lucky guy out there who will cherish you. But until then, please don't waste too much time being heartbroken when there is a dog out there who wants to love you more than he ever could. They are amazing listeners and will make you feel better whenever you need a little uplifting.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
