I transferred between three universities, changed my major twice and moved 15 hours before I settled with attending Full Sail University. I started my college career at an Indiana school, majoring in Public Relations and Communication.
I took "Communications 101" where the instructor was reading from a textbook, talking about the positive future of radio and TV. At that moment, I knew that instructor and that school would be setting me up for failure.
Before social media was as big as it is today, with the creation of Youtube and MySpace, I knew the slow death of radio, tv and newspaper would start to happen and I needed to be at a school who was embracing that. I transferred to my second school hoping to find what I was looking for from education.
Six months in, I was still unhappy and not satisfied with my choice. I was accumulating student loan debt, but not getting what I had hoped for. I was getting further behind in my studies because I wasn't motivated to learn outdated information about the world that was aggressively changing to keep up with modern technology.
In 2014, I went on a search to find a school that I would truly love and feed the burning passion I had locked away for so long. I had a family member introduce me Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.
They told me that this school would be perfect for what I was interested in doing. I contacted the Full Sail Admission Team and they helped me with every question I had. From the programs, housing, activities and the benefits of just being a student at their school, they helped me every step of the way.
I learned through talking to their team and by doing my own research that they were a different kind of university. Full Sail University offered an educational experience unlike any other school in the United States.
They valued creativity and the importance of hands-on experience. They provide every student with their own Apple MacBook Pro, fully loaded with software and textbooks. The textbooks were even built into the cost of tuition, eliminating the woes of purchasing textbooks on your own at a high cost.
The main seller point was the opportunities that Full Sail University offered to their students. Full Sail is the proud host of WWE's NXT events, where students can work and earn legit hands on experience. Full Sail puts on yearly events for the Oscars and GRAMMY to celebrate and support student alumni that are making notable contributions to the entertainment industries.
I found the peanut butter to my jelly by enrolling into the Media Communications program. I have met so many incredible individuals who not only thought the way I did but wanted to see our world move forward while embracing new technology and business practices.
