1. No sales tax on clothing. If you’re from Ohio like me, I’m sure you’ve experienced those shopping days when you end up spending way more than you think because of tax. New York City is filled with hundreds of stores that you can explore for days on end. Who doesn’t love tax-free shopping? I know I do.
2. The Atlantic Ocean. There are hundreds of FREE beaches that anyone can go to right on the Atlantic Ocean. You can get your tan on for free on a beach, feeling like you’re basically in paradise.
3. The subway. A cheap and easy way to get around the city. Plus, you won’t have to pay for parking.
4. Discount tickets for Broadway shows. Being a student does have its perks. With just a student ID, you can get a discount on certain Broadway shows. After all, you can’t visit New York City without seeing a Broadway show.
5. Chinatown. If you want knock-off designer purses, sunglasses, wallets, or anything for cheap, china town is the place for you. On the plus side, most of the items don’t even look like knock-offs.
6. Pizza. Every college kid loves pizza. It’s what you turn to at 2 a.m. when you’ve been out drinking all night. You haven’t lived until you’ve tasted New York Pizza. Trust me, it’s the best. And, it’s only about two dollars for a big slice, so I would say that’s a pretty great deal.
7. Great bonding time. Whether you travel with your friends or your family, you will make memories that you’ll never forget. You’ll be wandering the streets of the city that never sleeps with the people closest to you. You’ll be shopping and sightseeing and tasting food you’ve never had before with the people closest to you. If that isn’t a great bonding experience, I don’t know what is.
