12 Reasons Why I Am Excited To Return Back To Lafayette This Week

12 Reasons Why I Am Excited To Return Back To Lafayette This Week

1. Obviously, I get to see all my friends I have not seen in a while.

2. I am super pumped to move into my sorority house!

3. And with that, being able to redecorate my room for the new year.

4. Drinking my favorite iced hazelnut latte at Cosmic Cup.

5. Nerd status: Get to take more classes I am interested in.

6. Seeing the tail-less squirrels all around campus.

7. Walking to Wawa whenever I need pretty much anything.

8. Quad-sitting the first few weeks of class.

9. The overall new-school-year feel the campus will have (we all know what this is, do not deny it).

10. Being able to see the leaves change color on campus.

11. I cannot wait to start-up my activities again for this year.

12. Which of course means that I cannot wait to continue writing for Odyssey in the upcoming semester!

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
