10 Reasons Why We All Wanted To Live In Halloweentown

Halloweentown, the 1998 Disney Channel movie, is by far one of the most classic Halloween movies of our generation. It doesn’t matter what age you are now, Halloweentown continues to be watched by procrastinating college students around the world during the month of October (or any month for that matter). When Marnie Piper, the lead character in the movie, discovers she is a witch, she follows her grandmother, Aggie Cromwell, back to Halloweentown where she is determined to help her stop a supernatural villain. Along the way, Marnie and her siblings, Sophie and Dylan, encounter talking skeletons, flying brooms, and magic, which have carved a path into the imaginations of children for seventeen years now. I think we can all agree that at one point or another we all wanted to live in Halloweentown, and here are just a few reasons why.

1. The upgraded Mary Poppins bag

This bag comes with everything from candy and costumes, to garlic decorations used for warding off vampires. It's basically the iOS 9 of magical bags.

2. Benny, the taxi driver

Benny, AKA, the cool uncle. We'd totally love to have him pick us up every weekend when we go out.

3. Bad boy Luke

He's the cool kid in town with a big ego and a bad attitude. If he teases you, it means he likes you, right?

4. Magical powers

With magical powers, you would have the ability to wish for whatever you want and have it appear. You would never have to leave your couch again.

5. Household accessories

Aggie Cromwell's microwave puts every child's Easy-Bake Oven to shame. I mean, come on, how cool is that?

6. Family bonding over spells

While the rest of us are doing our regular Sunday grocery shopping, the Cromwell siblings have better things in mind.

7. The village

This village has everything a friendly tourist could want! Halloweentown is complete with restaurants and shops, a quaint town square, and, oh yeah, witches.

8. And who could forget the town pumpkin?

This iconic town centerpiece is a statue unlike any other. You'll never have to carve a pumpkin again.

9. Flying brooms

Stop by the shop and pick up your honorary witch broom! Hey, you only have to be thirteen to legally operate this sky high mode of transportation.

10. A community of friends...who are also ghouls, goblins, and witches

Each one of these magical Halloween characters makes the annual October holiday one to remember. Oh, but don't worry, Benny, you will always have a special place in our hearts.

So before Halloween season ends this year, don't forget to watch this movie with your friends and embrace the nostalgia.

April Ludgate

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
