7 Reasons You Should Watch "Riverdale"

The somewhat new CW show "Riverdale" is a fresh take on Archie Comics "Riverdale" and I think it's pretty fantastic.

Because it's summer and there is no more homework to be done, I decided to start watching "Riverdale." I realize that I'm a bit late to the program, because we've already made it through two seasons and season three will be premiering this October. However, I could argue that I began at exactly the right time because Netflix added season two right as I began by bingeing, so I didn't have to endure any painful waits after tearing through season one. From the beginning, I was hooked. First of all, I have a history of loving shows from The CW. Secondly, there are certain elements that remind me of shows like "Pretty Little Liars" and "Gossip Girl," both of which I love. So, i was pretty much destined to love the show. Not to mention, the cast is so beautiful. I'm honestly not sure if these are real people or if they're gods and goddesses come to earth. Without further ado, here are seven reasons you should check out "Riverdale":

1. Archie Andrews

Amino

Archie Andrews may not be everyone's favorite character, but he's a good soul. He fights for what he believes in, does his best to protect the people he cares about (not to name any names but Fred, Betty, Jughead, Veronica). Season two Archie is nice, but he does some serious leveling up in season two and we get to see some of his darker side.

2. Betty Cooper

STAIL.MY

Betty Cooper is a pure, wholesome soul who deserves all the love in the world...but she also has a dark side, known as "Dark Betty." All I have to say is that Dark Betty is everything I've ever needed and I love her. Everyone loves to tell Betty how perfect she is and she hates to have to say, once again, how much she hates it when people call her perfect. Not to go against her wishes, but I wouldn't disagree if someone told me she was perfect.

3. Cheryl Blossom (aka Cheryl Bombshell)

Buzzfeed

Cheryl Blossom is a beautiful, iconic, savage, and I love her. She's incredibly sassy, delivers all the best insults without ever blinking an eye, and every outfit she wears is amazing. She must be protected at all costs, though if you've watched season dos you know as well as I do that she can protect herself pretty darn well.

4. Jughead Jones

WeHeartIt

You might be lying if you say you never went through a phase where you were weird in a Jughead-sort of way, where you buried everything you said in several layers of irony. Jughead might be a weird one, but we still love him. Like Archie, he always fights to protect the ones he loves and doesn't give up, which is so admirable. And, can we talk about some of the other Serpents for a minute? A blessing to all of us. I'm talking about Toni, Sweet Pea, and Fangs. They deserve all the love in the world and I sincerely hope season three brings us a lot more of them.

5. Kevin Keller

Diply

Kevin Keller is always here for us. (And we are always here for him.) Providing comedic relief and sassy quips, he's everything we need in a friend. He asks the questions and gets us the answers we need (sometimes the ones we didn't even know we needed). Not to mention, he consistently reminds us of how attractive Archie is, bless his soul.

6. Veronica Lodge

Amino

Veronica Lodge is the best friend that we all wish we could have. Although she has made some mistakes, she is tenacious and refuses to give up on anyone. Plus, she will fight to the death to defend those she loves. The moral compass runs strong with this one, and in spite of the never ending war between her and her father she still manages to attend school, be a part of the Vixens, and do things with Sir Archibald Andrews.

Bonus: 7. Nana Rose Blossom

Tumblr

Nana Rose doesn't have a terribly large role in the show, but she is absolutely fantastic and quite relatable.

It's understandable that "Riverdale" isn't for everyone. We all have unique tastes in what we like to watch, listen to, eat, etc. Nevertheless, I think the show is amazing and I would recommend watching at least one episode because it's not like it'd do any harm. And, like me, you may just get hooked.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
