Reasons Why You Shouldn't Be Wasting Your Time At A Gym

Obviously, you came here looking for reasons why you shouldn't be wasting your time at the gym, however, I have news to break to you: there are none.

There is not one single reason that you shouldn't be "wasting your time" at a gym.

I've come to find that a lot of people like quick fixes for just about everything, including their health. Why would you go to the gym if you can just take that proven-to-work fat burning pill, or drink special shakes for all meals of the day, or completely cut out gluten or dairy? Those are all sure to benefit your health and provide a quick fix to weight loss, right?

Not really.

If you want to do any of the above, then go right ahead. But this really isn't the way to go when it comes to improving your health. Just because it's the "quick fix" or the easy way to go doesn't mean its the best way to go or what you should be doing. I know I'm going to get people who disagree with me, and that's okay. Honestly, it doesn't bother me if people do any of the above-- sometimes, this may help you, your body, and your health. I'm not one to judge that, and if it's what you want to do, then don't let anyone stop you (unless it's harming you more than helping you).

However, what bothers me is that a lot of people just seem to want the easy way out. Or, a lot of people just don't have the motivation to get themselves to a gym when they always say they want to improve their health. This article is for those people-- I'm not picking on you, and I don't want you to get that vibe. I'm just here to say that the quick fixes and the easy options may be beneficial at that moment but at some point, they won't work anymore. That's why they're easy and that's why they're quick. They aren't long-lasting, and they teach you nothing about truly improving your health. They don't change any habits. You'll be back where you started at some point along the road (in most cases).

So, overall, I want to finish this by saying the one thing that this article is here to prove: there are truly no reasons why you cannot be or should not be at the gym, even if you keep making up the excuses.Honestly, there are no reasons why you shouldn't be simply exercising your body in any way, in that case. If you want to lose the weight, if you want to simply improve your health, or if you want to just become more active, then there is no single excuse why you shouldn't and why you can't. So, go ahead and get moving and start putting aside your excuses. If you want it bad enough, then you can get yourself to do it-- and you can do it too. Becoming active, whether at a gym, in your house, or outside has dozens of more long-lasting benefits and lessons about your health than a simple pill or special diet does.

It won't be the quick fix and it won't be the easy fix, but it'll be the fix that's worth it in the end. Trust me.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
