So are you the outgoing one or are you the nah-I-would-rather-stay-home one?
It's really hard to meet someone these days with a hobby to go out and explore nature. Most prefer to live by repeating eat-sleep-and-watch-movie routine. Even I, as a teenager, preferred sleep over almost anything. Sleep was life until I decided to go on a five-day trip to the most beautiful place in Texas, Big Bend National Park, the heart of the Chihuahua Desert. The trip inspired me to go out more and explore the nature and made me realize how much I was missing out in life. If you live in Texas, you should visit the Big Bend National Park, and here are five reasons why.
1. The sunset is breathtakingly beautiful
Every day you will be like, "Damnnn, sunset! Back at it again with that bomb view."
2. The tiring but worth-it hikes
Big Bend National Park is for the hikers. If you love to hike and want to feel what is like to reach the top, you should definitely visit the park. Though most of the hikes are long and uphill, it is always worthy when you reach at the end of the trial. You make yourself proud. The gust of the breeze that you feel when you are at the top of a huge mountain is unexplainable. It's like the breeze is whispering, "You are the King of the world." You wouldn't wanna come down. The view from up there is a paradise.
3. There's actual talking
What is cooler than this? The park is so far away from the materialistic world. People do not get cellphone services, and this kinda brings people together. People actually talk rather than staying on phone all day. At the campsites you can hear people singing, talking, laughing, and having a good time like in the good old days. It makes you forget about the wars that are happening around. It gives you peace. Inner peace! You also meet with a lot of different people, and it is a place where you can make friends. You meet some wonderful people at the most unexpected places.
4. The Rio Grande River and the hot spring
Canoeing through the Rio Grande river was the best part of the trip. The fascinating part about the river was that the river divides The United States and Mexico. So if you canoe in Rio Grande, you can be in two places at the same time. How cool is that! After the floating trip, one can rest at the hot spring with the exquisite view of the sky. It will be like what-a-time-to-be-alive moment!
5. Flora and fauna
Big Bend is famous for its different variety of flora and fauna. It has all kinds of species of plants, and they have their own value in the desert. On the first day you'll think all plants are cactus, and on the last day you will be naming the plants. Big Bend is also home to many species of reptiles, amphibians, fish, and mammals.
Big Bend National Park is an awe-inspiring place. It is right at the border of the U.S. and Mexico, but it is still not an international park, and it's sad -- looking at how attractive the Mexico part of the park was. Big Bend National Park should be an international park. There has been a proposal for a Big Bend International Park so that the beautiful treasure shared by the U.S. and Mexico can be enjoyed by the visitors. So if you want to make and change and help Big Bend National Park to be an international park, please sign a petition here.
Let's make a change!
Lastly, My trip to Big Bend inspired me to go travel more and explore mother nature. It is a beautiful world out there. I have many more parks and places to visit. We have. Let's get our asses off the couch and travel!
