8 Reasons to See 'Ocean’s 8'

I'm obviously not a professional critic reviewer from The New York Times or Variety, but I did see the movie and these are the eight reasons why you should too.

There was no doubt in my mind when I saw the previews for Ocean's 8 a couple months ago I would see it the first day it came out and so I did just that. Just a forewarning there may be spoilers further down in the article, so if you don't want to know some of the things that happen than just go see the movie right now. Or just keep reading to find out the eight reasons why you should go see the movie anyways.

1. The Cast

I saw the trailer for this film and wanted to see it straight away just for the cast alone. The main characters of the movie star Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina. The list doesn't stop there with familiar faces making the screen only you can point out when you see the film.

2. Women empowerment

If you're a woman who is proud to be a woman you're destined to see this movie. I think this movie came out in such an important time with the 'Times Up' movement happening and how active women are in standing up for their rights in the time and age right now.

3. Comedy

Even though it's more of an action/crime/thriller movie, with a cast like this how can't there be any comedy. It's fun to see this many characters constantly interact with each other, because it's unusual to have this many main characters in one film. And who doesn't like to laugh?

4. It’s not a reboot

Sometimes reboots can ruin an ongoing movie series, but this is not even a passing of the torch. As some of you may know, the Ocean's series began in 2001 with Ocean's Eleven and ended in 2007 with Ocean's Thirteen, but this movie is not directly related to the sequels. It's a parallel story of another family member that was raised in the same family as Danny Ocean was, but this is strictly about Debbie Ocean and her story.

5. It’s stylish

This film is elegant and glamorous with splashes of street style. From Cartier to Vogue to the Met Gala its high-end and these ladies fashion senses don't disappoint. There is Jamaican flare, chic bright suits, skater-boy street style, fashion designers and more to accommodate for almost all fashion tastes.

6. Vivid personalities

Of course an all-female cast will only show off all the colorful personalities that go with it. You get to see how a computer hacker, fashion designer, celebrity, jewelry maker, profiteer, street hustler and the brains behind it all happen to mix and each get a moment or two to shine.

7. Inside the Met Gala

Now I know I'm not the only person in the world that wonders what happens inside the Met Gala. The film gives a bit of an exclusive look inside one of Hollywood's biggest events. Even though it may not be exactly how the Met goes, it made me believe it.

8. The ladies totally became best friends

I mean who wouldn't want to become best friends with powerful women like this cast. It's always fun to hear stories of what happened off camera and how they now have a group chat they text in. Women who empower each other and actually become friends with each other from a movie, especially 8 women, is hard to come by.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer.
