Pursue What You Love, Not What You 'Should' Do, And Not What Makes The Most Money

Drawing is not just a skill and a hobby. It's a real talent once you combine and mix three important factors: imagination, storytelling, and creativity.

Talents are very essential qualities to have as an individual. They not only define what you can do but they also define yourself. They give a person the abilities to learn something new and challenge himself/herself. Someday, they might become useful to have. One of the talents that follow those expectations is drawing. This talent can be obtained through lots of practice. Similar to other talents, drawing also began as a hobby.

However, drawing is not just a skill and a hobby. It's a real talent once you combine and mix three important factors: imagination, storytelling, and creativity. When I was growing up, I was told that drawing is not a money-earning skill and that I should learn a more practical skill. But they were wrong.

Our most beloved and popular films, entertainment and pop culture only exist because of drawing — Disney, Studio Ghibli, even superheroes films, anime, manga, and popular video games. The fundamentals of these forms of entertainment come from drawing, which gives the structures, outlines, and concepts into making these into reality for their audiences. Even though animated films are mostly now 3D, they still need to draw out on paper like for 2D films before they make the 3D film.

In addition, drawing also expresses new ideas for fashion. Before clothing material is chosen and displayed, the fashion designer has to draw it out in order to picture the fashion style. That's how some of the most special and distinct fashion styles started out.

Another essential aspect of life that began with drawing is architecture. Before making the building, one has to draw out the building on a blueprint before the construction workers have to build it. The same thing goes for houses. Lots of things, especially from jobs and occupations that make money, have started with a drawing.

Other than defining one's self and starting out something, drawing creates a connection between your audience and your world of imagination. From then on, the artist's world is shared among people which, in effect, brings many colors and joy to many lives of people. Therefore, I am always fascinated and passionate about how drawing can be shown through many styles, especially how some can become the most distinguishable and adored by the audiences.

It is great to see many interesting, original, and extraordinary artwork from artists around the world. You can learn so many art techniques as inspiration from their artworks and artists themselves. Art can be found anywhere, especially in different places like the internet, museums, cities and theme parks, etc. It is also admirable of people who can actually draw from memory, imagination, and sight. Not everyone can do it, but it's still awesome to know that some people can.

Although drawing is not easy, it is still amazing that drawing can be done with only through just the mind, eyes, and hands. Continue to love your talent for drawing if you have it.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
