I have always been the type of person who must listen to music. I grew up dancing and I always assumed that was why music seemed like such a necessity to me because I was surrounded by it, but I also grew up as a child with parents who danced around the house to it. From cooking to cleaning to driving, to dancing, to concerts and homework and working out, merely every occasion in my life involved and currently involves music.

While many lean towards a certain genre, or still to only country music, or only reggae, I literally listen to every form of music, from the bizarre to the pop, to the even more bizarre. I have to blame the wide genre's more on dance because that definitely gave me a passion for all sorts of music, listening more in-depth to the rhythms and the lyrics. Don't let me lead you to believe I ever succeeded at playing an instrument, reading music or singing, however, those things have never been and will probably never be my strong suit. Doesn't mean I can't hold strong value for it however, it's impacted us currently and historically in major ways.

It makes me feel good.

No matter, what mood I am in, I can find a song or songs, to make things better. I know that may sound cheesy, but I believe it is the reason why I get myself out of my head or fix my emotions. You may think I'm crazy, but you should at least try it.

Increased exercise.

This one shocked me, but studies have shown it to be true. Gyms play music and practically all individuals listen to music when they work out. I used to think I did it to tune out all the others exercising around me, but in addition to that, it calms you enough to make you repeat an action for longer and motivates you.

Often teaches you a lesson.

It doesn't matter what genre you listen to nine times out of ten, music is teaching you a lesson or sharing some kind of story. Real people write the songs we listen to and more often than not they write about their life experiences. We can learn from others mistakes without even noticing we are doing so.

Lowers my stress.

Music has almost always been my go-to in relieving stress, in some form or manner. While driving, music tends to lower my stress when other cars are driving like maniacs. While studying it has always helped to calm and focus me. Even if I chose to go for a run to reduce my stress, it is accompanied by headphones, so music is in play here as well. I feel better once I listen to music to bring me back to reality. It's embarrassing, but even when I graduated I had to sing whatever song was stuck in my head to walk across that stage with thousands of eyes on me, without tripping over my feet due to high nerves.

It helps you sleep.

Why do you think those apps with calming noises are so popular? Music helps you sleep, obviously only if it's calming, but it does work. So, if you're up late reading this article, maybe you should just put on some ocean waves or rain falling.

If these five reasons aren't enough to get you to start listening to music on the daily, then Google it! There are a ton more reasons that music has proven to be beneficial to your everyday life and future. These five are just the most beneficial to mine and I can only hope they make you at a little more music to your life for your own health.
