It’s no secret that cats are listed as one of the most unfavorable pet animals, even when we’re living in the 21st century and it’s evident that these little felines are dominating now. There’s actually been studies having scientific and psychological explanations as to why people express an unfavorable attitude towards them. The research examining them has been tied down to outgoingness of character, allergies, the infamous belief of them possessing some wicked medieval spirit, and of course their predatorial instinct. However, this article is here to convince people with an anti-cat conscience of why investing in a pet feline is an intelligent decision, other than just showing adorable cat or kitten videos that the majority has already been overly exposed to.

The purr sound is a reputable form of communication that comes from a cat. Nonetheless, it is also a health benefit for the human by providing immense healing power. The vibrations from the purring within the range from 20-140 Hz is medically therapeutic for many illnesses with depression and anxiety being two major inclusions. You can read about how cats helped heal this woman’s problem with depression here. It’s no wonder experts state it’s considerable for parents to invest in a pet cat for their children as well. Petting a purring cat lowers stress, thus lowering the blood pressure. A research study had confirmed that cat owners are at a 40% lower risk of having a heart attack, which makes sense, since they're known for lowering stress. Therefore, cats are good for the heart, an extremely vital organ towards the functioning of the human body. Not only are cats proven to be beneficial for the heart, but their purring also provides a necessary impact on muscles, tendons, and ligament injuries, because the vibrations heal the soft tissue and promote bone strength. They can help with respiratory issues such as dyspnea (shortness of breath) as well as epidermal ones like infection and swelling. So, as you can see, it’s definite that cats have superpowers due to their purring.

Unfortunately, autism is a non-curable disorder that affects the social skills of a person, even from when they’re children. Researchers from the University of Missouri conducted a study evaluating that the social interaction of children diagnosed with autism dramatically improved when around a pet. Medicaldaily.com stated, “…the simple truth is that pets, including and especially cats, are known to ease the burdens of most everyone who owns them.”

Referring to the previous statement that cats relieve respiratory issues is major due the fact that they are notorious for causing allergies. These miniature felines assist in building a stronger immune system. Early exposure to cats or dogs toughens a baby’s immune system making their bodies more equipped to battling respiratory diseases. It’s also been proven that children exposed to cat allergens are better off than those who aren’t. Thom McDade, PhD, associate professor and director of the Laboratory for Human Biology Research at Northwestern University noted, “Just as a baby's brain needs stimulation, input, and interaction to develop normally, the young immune system is strengthened by exposure to everyday germs so that it can learn, adapt, and regulate itself.”

Putting aside social and medical reasons as to why cats are significant pets, they are also in a way considerable for dating purposes, especially towards the single male population. 90% of single women surveyed said that men with cats for pets seem to be nicer and caring. Thus, owning a pet cat could be an attractive quality for a single male in the dating world.

As you can see, cats are great creatures not only for their entertainment, but because of the health and social enhancements a person receives from owning one.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
