Holidays are special moments where we have the chance to spend quality time with our loved ones. It is the time of parties, eating, drinking, singing and dancing. It is time to make new unique memories, but also it is during the holidays where many emergencies happen. Holidays make us have excesses, play with danger and not think about the consequences.
We all have learned we must call 911 when we have an emergency; however, these days many people think twice before calling 911. This is happening because of the bills we receive later. The truth is taking an ambulance could have a cost of $800 or more. Even when we have insurance, the prices are high. Also, our first thoughts are that we can handle the emergency by ourselves.
The point is calling 911 could make the difference between a happy or tragic ending.
1. It is more than simply transportation.

Sometimes when we think about emergencies and 911, we only visualize the ambulance which it is going to ride us to the hospital. The reality is 911 is more than an ambulance; it is to ask for assistance to stabilize us.
I want to share my own experience. My mom had a heart attack. We were lucky; she was alone, and she called 911. Rescue came, and they saved her life. I have thought about this many times. If I had been at home, I would have chosen to drive her to the hospital by myself because I did not want to have another bill to pay. She would have died.
That day, I learned how helpful emergency response is and how important it is to call them no matter what.
2. Money is not everything in our lives.

Money moves the world, but I feel we give it more importance than we should. Don't get me wrong; I have worked all my life. In my house, we always need my money to pay bills. I know the importance of money; in the same way, I have spent too much time being worried about it.
If you have an emergency, don't think about how expensive it is going to be. We need to establish priorities. Resolve the crisis first; then, when everybody is healthy and well, we can think about how to pay the bills.
3. Calling the experts.

Remember when rescue comes to our homes, we receive a group of people who have trained. They know what to do. For example, you are celebrating with family, and someone starts drowning. The first instinct is to help, to try to make this person breathe. However, we also need to call 911 because even with our best intentions, most of us do not have the training to help.
Rescue will be at home in a couple of minutes. The difference is on the time that takes you to call them.
I do not want to be a party pooper, but holidays are perfect to suffer emergencies. Please, no matter what, call 911. Stop thinking you can handle the crisis or about all money it will cost you.
