There seems to be a lot of controversy when it comes to who should be the only ones allowed to attend a drag show and what it means about your identity if you do attend a performance. The real answer? Everyone who is not homophobic or just a jerk in general. You do not have to be gay in order to admire a drag show for what it is, and here are all the reasons why you should be finding the closest one to you this weekend.

The interaction

Almost every drag show is interactive, making the whole experience more fun and exciting for everybody involved.

Accepting of everyone

Everyone involved also contains some of the most accepting people you will ever meet. From drag performers to just fellow community allies, everyone is nice to everyone which makes the night way more enjoyable.

The adrenaline

Watching a queen show off her best outfit and perform her best moves is so exciting that you can't help but cheer her on until your voice disappears.

Body confidence

Whether you are the performer or just an audience member, work your stuff to the fullest. This atmosphere is the most encouraging one you will ever be in.

Safe environment

Just as I stated above, the environment is not only positive but also safe and judgement free. Anybody can be whoever they want to be with no questions asked and no weird long glances.

Great way to make new friends

If you already love going to drag shows, guess where you will find other people who also love going to drag shows?

Admiring the art

The art of drag is complex in every shape, way, and form. From the outfit, the makeup, the dance, and the sound choice, everything is selected carefully for a purpose.

Listening to your favorite music

With the wide variety of kings and queens comes the possibility of a lot of those performers love the same songs you do.

Comedic relief

A lot of performers touch on current events and like to add a sense of comic relief to the touchy subject which is not only a great performance but an amazing ice breaker.

It is a learning experience

For anyone who isn't quite sure how to behave at a drag show, your first one is always the most educational.

Your safest option yet

Why go to an out of control rager when you could be at a safe and just as exciting and thrilling performance surrounded be sane and reasonable people?

So if you have never been to a drag show, thought about going to one, or go every day of the week, add it to your weekend plans as soon as possible. These outrageous shows are something that everyone should experience at least once in their lives.
