So 2016 will most likely be remembered as one of the worst years in human history. This year has been horrible for many reasons for a lot of people, but, like every other year, there have been some positive aspects. Here's a list of 10 reasons to be thankful for 2016.
1. Graduations
Congrats, Class of 2016! We made it!
2. This Amazingness Happened
Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, and Pentatonix all came together to deliver this spectacular performance of "Jolene" on "The Voice" a few weeks ago.
3. Thomas Sanders Exists
If you haven't heard of this cinnamon roll, look him up. He's been around for longer than just this year, but his vines and other videos will definitely make you smile. He also has a video that gives you even more reasons to be happy if you need it.
4. The ALS Made Breaking Discoveries Thanks To The Ice Bucket Challenge
One of the few challenges that had a purpose beyond just doing it, the Ice Bucket Challenge helped fund research that led to an important gene discovery that you can read more about here.
5. Giant Pandas Are No Longer Endangered
Okay, so they're now classified as "vulnerable" according to this article, but it's a start! Yay, more pandas!
6. Leonardo DiCaprio Finally Got His Oscar
It was well-deserved and way past time for him to get one. Congrats, Leo.
7. Awesome Shows/Movies
"Dr. Strange," "Rogue One," "Zootopia," "Moana," "Deadpool," and "Captain America: Civil War" all came out this year. "Attack on Titan" Season Two's been confirmed, and so has a Third Season of "Young Justice!" "Young Justice" is coming back, people! Let the fandoms rejoice!
8. Pokemon Go Came Out
Don't act like you weren't excited to catch a Pikachu.
9. President Obama Sang "Jingle Bells"
Just let this video warm your heart.
10. It's Almost Over
If you're reading this article, then congratulations; you've made it (and no, this isn't meant to be patronizing). We can almost kiss this year goodbye. Just hang in there a little longer.
In the end, while this year could've been a lot better, it wasn't completely bad. If nothing else, 2016 serves as a two-fold reminder: always look for the positive, and remember that rough patches in life don't last forever.
