In lieu of the upcoming Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life revival, fans are constantly speculating about who Rory Gilmore would end up with: Logan, Dean or Jess. While there are always argument for each of Rory's beaus, here is some reasons why you should be rooting for Team Jess.
His knowledge of literature.
This is something that you can't compare to Rory's other boyfriend's. Jess matched Rory on an intellectual level (and so did Logan), but he also had a fondness for the same books as Rory; not to mention, they loved the same music and movies, too.
The way he quotes literature the same as Rory.
As an English Major, this is top notch.
That Jess knows Rory, better than anyone else.
Jess called Rory on all of her mistakes and he knew her inside and out. He knew something was wrong and cared about her so deeply.
That he never stopped loving Rory.
He never stopped caring about he and never wanted anybody else.
This.
Jess tells Rory, years after their relationship ended, that he couldn't have written his book without her. Rory helped Jess realize who he was, but even more so Jess helped Rory find herself too.
His sense of humor.
Jess's wit always matched something similar to that of Lorelai Gilmore herself. Rory admired the fact he could always make her laugh, because it set her at ease in any situation.
That you could never catch Jess without a book in hand.
Rory always carried a book with her, just like Jess.
He looked it up.
Enough said.
Fast forward...
In this clip from the revival, Rory and Jess are still in each other's lives. However, this quote says even more. Rory is referencing Marlon Brando's speech from On the Waterfront, which Jess not only catches but responds to. They get each other, even through the little things.
It is what it is.
Rory impulsively went to see Jess to cheat on Logan like he cheated on her, but couldn't because she's Rory. Jess saw her, the way he always does, and accepted her for who she is. While he jumped at the chance to be with her again, he understood her in the end.
