Everyone has a favorite season, right? Everyone either loves or hates winter, most people love summer, others love fall, others love spring. I happen to belong to the strange group of people that loves every season, for various reasons. However, I think spring is my favorite season. There are more benefits to it than detriments. Here's a list of many of the things I love about spring...
1. Warmer weather.
By the time spring rolls around, the cold weather of winter is more than a little old. You're tired of wearing coats and maybe want to start wearing lighter weight clothes than you have all winter. That warm breeze is a promise of warmer days to come.
2. Rain.
I know, I know. Most people hate rain. I actually love it. It's beautiful and creates intricate patterns on windows that can't truly be recreated. Not to mention the sound. Its gentle pattern is like listening to a waterfall or a fountain.
3. Lightning.
Again, I know most people don't like it. I appreciate lightning when I can sit inside and watch it. It's so beautiful, and it really never looks the same twice.
4. Flowers.
This one's a given. Most people who prefer spring love the flowers. However, there are so many different types of flowers that only bloom in spring, like tulips. They bloom every year, but only in spring. You won't find them any other time of year. They're probably one of my favorite flowers.
5. Green grass.
Sounds cheesy I know, but it's like all the life is being given back to the world. Color is brought back, and the grass is proof. It adds more life to anyone's lawn.
6. Birds.
The birds are back. They sing and add to the music of everything going on around you. They're proof that the weather is warmer. They're proof that winter is over.
7. New leaves.
Yet again, more proof that winter is over. This beautiful evidence adds more life to the trees. The new leaves are always lighter than their counterparts in summer. The tree bark is darker. Overall, the contrast is more striking in spring. Not to mention many trees have flowers bloom at the same time, creating even more contrast to the seemingly dead look of winter.
8. The promise of summer.
You can feel it in the warm breeze, see it in the dark blue sky and the flowers growing in the field. You can hear it in the rain and the birds singing. It's a promise of new life, of warmer days. It's a promise that life can change, that the dark days pass. It's a promise of peace and beauty despite calamity. It's a promise of better days. After all, April showers bring May flowers, right?
